USD's Weissinger Continues Successful Freshman Year with Performance at Dakota Classic

University of South Dakota's Robby Weissinger Earns Bronze at First Dakota Classic

May 1, 2017 Yankton, SD- Robby Weissinger's freshman year as an Olympic recurve archer representing the University of South Dakota is on a roll. After qualifying in 3rd place at Collegiate Indoor Nationals and trying for 5th nationwide, a first place win at Iowa's State Indoor Championships he entered this year's First Dakota Classic with a splash this past weekend, April 28-30, 2017. This event, the culmination of the NFAA's 3-Star Tour -starting with The Vegas Shoot followed by NFAA Indoo Nationals ending with the Classic- this three day event features a two day qualifying round Friday and Saturday where archers shoot 60 arrows at three differences for a perfect possible score of 600 point. This is followed by a head-to-head single elimination matches Sunday where archers shoot 15 arrows for the highest possible score of 150. Robby made his intention to stand out as a competitor be known by qualifying in first place in the Championship Recurve Male division with a score of 549 our of 600. On Sunday he worked his way to the bronze medal match and handidly walked away with a win with a score of 138 to his opponent's 105. 

This is an impressive career for an archer that picked up the challenging Olympic recurve bow just a year ago. Up next for Robby is the US Collegiate Archery Outdoor Target Nationals May 11-13 where he is currenly a candidate for Collegiate All American representing the USD Coyotes Archery Club.
