Collegiate Archers Find Success Their Freshman Year

Mount Marty College and University of South Dakota well represented on the US Collegiate Archery stage.

Mount Marty College varsity archer Callie Stevens and University to South Dakota's Robby Weissinger are having a standout freshman year in US Collegiate Archery. Callie, currently ranked 7th in the country after indoor nationals and Robby, finishing the 5th best indoor archer in the USCA, are trailblazing collegiate archery at their respective schools.

Callie Stevens, a native of Missoula, MT, is the first member of the varsity program after Mount Marty adopted the sport as part of their athletic program. An avid archer, hunter and outdoorsman, she recently made the change to Olympic recurve and has made tremendous efforts to build up her skillset. She's had a great first year, having qualified in 8th place at US Collegiate Archerys (USCA) Indoor National Qualifier, giving her the opportunity to particiate at Indoor National Finals that took place at The Vegas Shoot- the largest indoor archery tournament in the world- and tying for 7th place overall. Callie also spent time at Mount Marty's information booth at Vegas, sharing her experience as well as educational and scholarship opportunities through the varsity program. Callie has been getting as much tournament experience under her belt as she can. Up next is South Dakota's state indoor followed by the First Dakota Classic in April, USCA's Outdoor Target Regionals and USCA's Outdoor Target Nationals in May.

Robby Weissinger has been leading the charge for competitive archery at the University of South Dakota. A native of West Des Moines, IA, Robby has had a competitive fire burning in him since middle school when he picked up archery as part of the National Archery in the Schools Program, NASP. Through middle and high school Robby competed for his school team reaching the top 5 ranking in the state of Iowa where a huge contingent of compeitive NASP archers reside. In high school Robby made the switch to Olympic recurve with the suggestion and guidance of his home coach and found a knack for the discipline. Since then Robby has been a dedicated student of Olympic recurve archery. His freshman year competing in the USCA has been outstanding, qualifying in 3rd place at Indoor National Qualifier and finishing 5th in the nation at the finals in Las Vegas. Up next is Iowa state indoor, his second go at the First Dakota Classic followed by USCA Outdoor Regionals and Outdoor Nationals. Robby has big plans for his archery future and the dedication to put in the work needed.
